On a July day in 1952, I boarded the U.S.S. Grouper, SSK-214. Though she had served in WWII, her new assignment was with the Underwater Sound Lab in New London, CT. Had I not served on her during the Korean War, I would not have had the G.I. Bill that saw me through the State Teachers College at Towson. Fifty-two years after graduating in 1958, I can reflect on a teaching career in Baltimore City, Towson State College, and Stevenson University, plus other state institutions too numerous to name. It has been a joy to have had all of the experiences I have had, as well as with all of the great educators I have had the opportunity to work with. Thanks 214 and TU.
