"The Lady In Red" (to which Oriole great Rick Dempsey fondly refers) is the since-razed Memorial Stadium. When I left Chicago and arrived at Towson State's campus on August 26, 1983, I didn't know a soul. I did, however, know that the No. 8 bus would take me down York Rd. to 34th and Greenmount, where the Stadium Lounge was just a quick pre-game stop before Orioles baseball. They won, 9-0 that night. I still have my ticket stub. It was the start of a telling chapter in which I became forever hooked on Baltimore and its every element. I am proud to live here today and I am never leaving. Ever.
